Intel and Fossil will seek new trends in smart accessories

After this week revealed its first luxury smart bracelet , Intel announced that it started a new collaboration with the manufacturer of watches Fossil Group, to have called. wearables or technologies that can be worn in the fashion world.

The company, which is best known for its production of processors, plans to combine its technology with design features of Fossil, to create new products and to support the development of other types of portable technology.

Furthermore, Fossil will work with the investment division of Intel, called Intel Capital, to seek new investment opportunities and to identify trends in smart technologies. Intel Capital has invested in several startup companies dealing with portable technologies, among them Thalmic Labs, which makes the bracelet managing computer with gestures and Basis, manufacturer of fitness equipment. Impressed by what Basis offers, Intel directly purchase the company in the spring.

Two days ago Intel announced its own smart bracelet MICA, which was established with the design firm and the Opening Ceremony will be sold in luxury boutiques. Last month, the company showed smartest headsets SMS Audio, which measure heart rate .

Shift to smart technology is a natural move by Intel after the company failed to make substantial income from mobile chips and also sell internet TV business to Verizon. At the same time, the market of portable technologies should reach 8 billion by 2018 This will be a huge leap compared to 2012, when its value was estimated at nearly $ 2.5 billion, and Intel is natural to try to take a certain amount of new opportunities .
